Our ideas for future use

So What is the Restored Silvery Light Going to Look Like

We have been fortunate to obtain 3D Drawing of the proposed redesign. The overall aim is to restore her to as close as is possible to her original lines. This will entail the lowering of the midships deck house and increasing the open deck space. Her rigging will remain that of a large Gaff ketch - similar to the west country trading ketches Bessie Ellen and Irene who have both visited Irish Ports on many occasions and the Brixham Trawlers

The interior accommodation will be designed in such a way as to provide sleeping berths that can be easily converted to exhibition design spaces and panels… and a built in audio visual screen bringing her bang uptodate!. This arrangement will give tremendous flexibility in how she can be used for community exhibitions, skills training, school visits and traditional sailing voyages. At the end of the day she remains a sailing vessel but she must earn her keep hence the dual purpose interior.

The Beautifully restored West Country Ketch Bessie Ellen has a fine dual purpose main saloon (pictured here) and this is what Silvery Light could look like down below.
